Kindergarten Tawny Transition to School, 2022

Online Tawny Transition Program

Important Update

Due to the current level 4 lockdown status in NSW and advice from NSW Health, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our Kindergarten Transition Program scheduled for Term 4.

The Transition to School Program will now be held at the beginning of 2022 with the following arrangements in place:

  • All students will commence school on Tuesday, 1st February 2022. Starting time will be 10.00am. All families are to check in at our Sports COLA (entry via King Street only).
  • Students will not be placed in classes for the first 8 days. During this time, activities similar to those scheduled for our Transition Program will take place. Students will interact with all Kindergarten teachers and fellow students, allowing our staff to make observations and get to know the children. This will allow staff to ensure students are placed in a class which will enable a smooth transition to school, therefore maximising their success.
  • Best Start Assessments will be undertaken during the first 8 days during school hours.
  • School uniform is to be worn (remembering that students will be issued with a hat on day 1).
  • Students will be placed in to their 2022 class on Friday, 11th February.

We would also like to offer a four week online Transition Program in Term 4. We hope that by providing this learning from home option your child may become familiar with our school, our Kindergarten teachers and begin to learn some of the routines they will follow next year.

The timeline for this Program is as follows:

  • Tuesday 5th October: Our team are putting together a ‘learning from home’ pack of resources. These packs will be available to collect from 9.30am-2.30pm at the King Street entrance to the school. If you cannot collect a pack during these times, please contact our office.
  • Wednesday 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th October: On each of these days a lesson will be uploaded to our website taught by our Kindergarten teachers. Our Kindergarten teachers will begin familiarising your children with school life using the resources from the ‘learning from home’ packs. These lessons will be adapted from lessons that would normally be taught during the Transition Program. The lessons will remain on the website allowing you to go through them with your child at your convenience. If you do not have the technology to access the school website, you are encouraged to use the resources in the ‘learning from home’ pack to begin your child’s transition.

We would love to see photographs of your children participating in the online program. Please send photographs (with your child’s name attached) to our school email address, or via message to our Facebook Page.
