Kindergarten Tawny Transition to School, 2022

Online Tawny Transition Program

Important Update

We would like to thank you for your support of our recent Kindergarten Orientation Day. The day was very successful and our staff enjoyed meeting and interacting with their 2022 students.

As 2021 draws to a close, we would like to communicate to you important information regarding your child’s first day of Kindergarten in 2022.

·         All students (including Kindergarten) will commence on Tuesday, 1st February 2022.

·         Kindergarten students will have staggered start times as advised in your posted letter.  This time is the same allocated time as the Kindergarten Orientation Day.  Drop off will be in our COLA (entry via King Street) - as per the recent Orientation Day. Our staff will be there to welcome you and sign students in. From Day 2, students will commence at normal time (9.10am) and can be dropped off at either King St or Sussex St entrance.

·         Pickup time will be 3pm from the Sussex Street gate – as per Orientation Day. This 3pm pickup arrangement will be in place for the first week only. From Week 2, pickup will be 3.10pm.

·         If you would like your child to catch the bus home, please notify our staff at drop off.

·         Please ensure students have a healthy lunch and recess, a piece of fruit for fruit break and a water bottle.

·         School uniform is to be worn. A hat will be provided for every student courtesy of our generous P&C.

·         Please ensure all clothing is labelled, including any spare clothing you may send in your child’s bag.

The Uniform Shop will be open on Friday, 28th January and Monday 31st January from 10am-12pm. Entry is via Sussex Street gate.

For the first 8 days, students will participate in a range of transition activities with all Kindergarten staff. On Friday, 11th February, students will be placed in their 2022 class.

Some handy hints from our Kindergarten teachers:

·         If you are buying new shoes, please consider velcro if your child cannot yet tie their shoelaces.

·         It is a great idea for your child to practice opening and closing their lunchbox and school bag, so they are competent at this from day 1.

·         Similarly, it is beneficial to practice putting their lunchbox away and closing their bag.

·         If you are purchasing a non KSPS backpack, we suggest that you ensure it is big enough to fit in all the items it will need to contain each day (eg lunch box, water bottle, jumper, library bag, home reader etc).
